It doesn’t cost a fortune for fun at Platypus Park. Get back to nature with experiences that are centered around our Park. Whether its kicking a ball on the grassed oval, swimming in the river or relaxing with a book there is something for everyone to enjoy.
AMENITIES
We have a modern and clean amenities block with toilets and showers. Our commitment to the environment is ongoing through catching and storing our own rainwater for our guest accommodation and amenities. Our guests can enjoy a viewing platform and camp kitchen overlooking the river where there is facilities to cook a barbie whilst taking in the view
BYO WATER FUN
Guests are welcome to bring their own boat or water toys and make use of our private boat ramp and large calm river. Many water ski enthusiasts frequent our park as it is a very quite and peaceful spot where passing boat traffic is minimal. The river winds around beautiful countryside where you can enjoy boating seven kilometres either direction. Your boat can be anchored upfront of the park and left in the river for the duration of your stay if you require. The park offers a pontoon for guest use
NATIVE WILDLIFE
Platypus Park is home for a myriad of unique Australian wildlife. Of course as our name suggests we have several puddles of platypus which live in the river and creek surrounded by subtropical rainforest. This subtropical forest is home to sugar gliders, bandicoots, eastern water dragons, kingfishers and hundreds of other bird species. We get the occasional visit from koalas. With many species of possum including the large bobuck or commonly known as the southern mountain possum. The colonies here are obviously very happy as this species is generally found south of Gympie.
CANOEING
Canoes and kayaks are the perfect way to explore the picturesque creek that meanders through our 50 acre property. Our all weather boat ramp is easily assessable for guests to launch their boat of kayak. Including anybody with mobility issues. The creek is a magnificent place to spend a few hours exploring and taking in the beauty of the natural flora and fauna
FRESH WATER FISHING
The river boosts an abundance of freshwater fish including baramundi, bass, yellow belly and the famous and protected ceratodus (lungfish). Bring your rod and tackle box and try your luck at catching a big one.
TESLA CHARGING STATION
We are conscious of providing a sustainable future for our guests and therefor have provided two Tesla charging stations onsite for our guests to use whilst they enjoy their stay
BIRD WATCHING
The Park is home to many bird species inhabiting the riverine environment as well as our creekside subtropical vegetation. These include, Willie Wagtail, Magpie, Rainbow Lorikeets, Miner Bird, Brown Honey Eater, Blue Faced Honey Eater, White Throated Honey Eater, Grey Fantail, Pale Headed Rosella, Pacific Baza, Spangled Drongo, Azure Kingfisher, Striated Heron, Butcher Bird, Eastern Whip and Friar Bird.
